Are there differences between Oil, Silicone and Water based lubricants?
Absolutely! There are many differences between these three types of lubes and you should be familiar with all of them.
• Oil based Lubricants

• Silicone based lubricants
The claim to fame silicone lubes have is that they can be used under water, this should tell you something, ie. if you can't remove it with water how safe can it be! Silicone lubes may provide longer lubrication than other lubes but are more difficult to remove and often require a special soap. Technically most silicone lubes are oil based as they are chemically hydrophobic. Another downfall is that silicone based lubes should only be used with items approved for use with silicone lubes to avoid risk of damage.

Since water based lubes are comprised of water, an ingredient that cannot be certified as organic, this eliminates them from being labeled organic. Also, many ingredients such as vitamins and gums are not recognized under certified organic parameters. Be cautious of products claiming to be organic!
